4 washcloths
2 towels
Bath blanket
Basin
Body wash
Clean gown
Bedside table
Partial Bed Bath-Face, Arm, Hand and Underarm
- Introduce self to resident.
- Identify that hands should be washed.
- Explain procedure to the resident.
- Provide for resident's privacy by pulling privacy curtain
- Fill basin with comfortably warm water
- Raise the bed between mid thigh and waist level.
- Cover resident with a bath blanket.
- Fanfold bed linens at least down to waist or move linens to opposite side.
- Remove resident's gown without exposing resident and dispose in linen hamper.
- Wash face without soap and then pat dry.
- Place towel under arm, exposing one arm.
- Wash arm, hand (and between fingers), and underarm using soap and water.
- Rinse arm, hand (and between fingers), underarm, and dry entire area.
- Assist resident to put on a clean gown.
- Empty, rinse and dry basin/s and return equipment to storage.
- Dispose of soiled linen in appropriate container.
- Lower bed
- Maintain respectful, courteous interpersonal interactions at all times.
- Open privacy curtain.
- Leave call light or signaling device within reach of the resident.
- Identify that hands should be washed.
